ELEGIBILITY
- Those new/returning series, with some restrictions by category, which were premiered and aired between from June 1st 2008 to May 31st 2009, are eligible to be nominated and awarded. The episodes aired after the 31st May 2009 deadline could be eligible as long as they’ve been aired or distributed on DVD before August 1st 2009. The total number of aired episodes in that extended period of time must be less than the half of the total episodes of their season.
- Every eligible American TV Series are candidates to be nominated and awarded for Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series categories.
- Every not-American eligible show, with no nationality or language restriction, can be nominated and awarded for Outstanding not-American Series.
- Those shows premiered for the first time in the eligibility period of the awards can be nominated and awarded for Outstanding New Series. That right excludes them from the possibility of being nominated or awarded for Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series categories.
- If a show has been cancelled during the eligibility period, it could be eligible for participate in the awards as long as a minimum of eight episodes were aired during its broadcasting.
- The Outstanding Kid/Teen Actor/Actress in a TV series category includes every actor or actress working at an eligible series whose age is less than 18 years old.
- Those actors and actresses whose first leading or important supporting role has been for the first time in the eligible period, will apply for the Outstanding breakthrough actor/actress in a TV series category.
- Outstanding TV series twitter and 2.0 experience referrers to those eligible shows which presence on the Internet has been notable and their activity on twitter or Web 2.0 media is remarkable. An example for this could be webisodes, websites, viral experiences… etc. Eligible twitter accounts can be linked to the show itself, characters, performers, crew members or whoever has something interesting to say regarding certain TV show.
- The rest of the categories are subjects to eligibility of the show they refer to.
USERS
- Everyone, with no nationality or age restrictions, can participate in the TV geeks Academy awards. The nominations and awards list will be presented both in English and Spanish.
- Users must register in the Awards’ website if they want to participate in the different voting stages. The user commits to vote just once for each category and voting stage. After finishing the registration process, every user becomes a member of the academy and will receive a member card and user number.
- Every member of the Academy has the right to vote in all the categories listed.
VOTING RULES
- The Academy board will present a list of pre-nominations for all the categories. The presented list will be as complete as possible and is subjected to change. The members can suggest three candidates for each category during the pre-nomination stage, no matter if they’re presented in the list or not. Of course, this suggestions made by the users must be made under the eligibility criteria.
- The nominations will be presented in alphabetical order. The order of voting won’t mean any kind of preference for the shows selected.
- There’ll be two stages: Pre-nomination and Nomination.
a. First Stage: 2nd to 8th of September (both included)
- The Academy will publish a list of suggested candidates of the eligible shows for every category. During this phase, the users could add any candidate they consider as long as it follows the rules presented here.
- Each member will choose three candidates for each category.
- The users will have eight (8) days to send their candidates.
b. Second Stage. 11th to 20th of September (Both included)
- Once considered the results of the pre-nomination phase, the Academy will publish the final nomination list for each category. The users will have ten (10) days to vote for their final winners.
- Each member will vote once and one candidate for each category.
- It’s not mandatory to vote to every one of the categories for the votes to validate. Users are allowed to choose in which categories they want to participate in.
c. Final Stage: 23rd of September
- The Academy will publish the complete winners list. The results will be immovable. The extended quantitative results will be available for those members who demand it.
